Once a musician… always a musician? I don’t think so! I love talking about playing the clarinet, but I haven’t actually touched my clarinet in a while. I haven’t posted anything on YouTube in a while too. YouTube has a new channel design. I just clicked on the link and it changed the look of my channel. Don’t have the time to further customize it. Well, I do have time if I wanted to mess around a bit. I was thinking about playing more Christmas songs, but too busy playing games. Having a full time job has limited my procrastination. Still keen in learning new things though.

So what exactly have I been planning lately? Nothing special. Buying a new desktop computer may help. Using a laptop is very uncomfortable and annoying. I met someone who was studying in musical instrument repairs. That would be interesting to get into if they did courses in Australia. That would be a nice business to start. Anyway, I better get some sleep.

Playing Games

In this case it’s the internet. Playing games can get very addictive especially if you’re good at it. You get into a routine where the only thing matters is the screen in front of you. How do you stop? Wait for the electricity to fail or start getting back pain. Everything is fine because you feel better after a good night’s sleep. Being spoiled at such a young age is a dangerous path to choose. Having a strict childhood is also bad. I’m one of those people who just happens to think differently. Not many people understand my train of thought.

It’s very frustrating to live a life of being alone. Not being with people who you can relate to. Luckily I found a few gamers at work, but we don’t really spend much time talking. There’s some opportunities to start a small business with the help of government. The only problem is getting approved. I’m using a laptop at the moment. It’s a little more convenient because of the mobility. However, the heat builds up and the fan goes crazy. There’s so much a little machine can do. Everything has a limit. My vision is losing confidence.

I’ve had a lot of dreams I would’ve liked to see come true. The only problem was time. I’m pretty good at starting projects. They just never get finished. Now that I’m back to a full time job working for the government, there’s very little time to spare. The only solution is to improve my management skills. Just saying that requires commitment. It’s like what makes you worthy of having the name Sherwin. I try to avoid talking about sleep, but nothing good ever comes out of one eye shut. Unless you want to look drunk or something.

I’ve hidden myself from the search engines slightly by removing links and busting myself with crawl errors. I haven’t had the time to stay active online. It’s 2:20am on a Sunday morning. I’m using up my sleep time to post this message. Not sure how I’m feeling right now. Lately I’ve been telling short stories on my main domain SherwinJTB. I’m also playing games and adding screenshots to Great Friends. I’m probably most active on Twitter because of its publicity potential. A personal website doesn’t really appeal to mainstream public.

Always learning and thinking of new ideas. It’s not really business talk. I’d like to think it’s life. I believe that to become successful in any business is that others think it’s still a hobby. Love the game. Hit and miss, but don’t give up. I just don’t want to lead people into a rut. Try, then try again. It feels nice to motivate yourself. I currently lack inspiration.

Daylight Savings Today

It’s been a while I’ve tried expanding my ideas. It would be nice to work in other areas that I’m interested in. Working in a full time job doesn’t leave me much time to do other major projects. Anyway, today is daylights savings. In Victoria we move our clocks forward one hour when the time reaches 2am (2/10/2011).

Time to switch…

Function Keys Nightmare on Laptop

I finally got tired of having to put up with the function keys while using my keyboard on the laptop. When you love using the keyboard especially when playing games there’s a lot of repetition. I didn’t mind the F1 popping up a few times because I could click back to the application very quickly. Don’t get me wrong though, I didn’t like the help support window popping up on me. F2 and F3 were a little more annoying because it messed with the lightness and darkness of the screen. I had some tolerance as this was my new laptop we’re talking about.

The problem came when I needed the F12 key. I can’t have my internet connection disconnecting on me every time I hit the F12 key! The application I use requires the F12 key to take screenshots. Then I had to find a solution for this. I’m using a HP Pavilion g series notebook if anyone was interested. I don’t think this was a Windows 7 issue. The solution I went with is to restart the laptop and press F10 when the HP logo came up. Went into the system configuration and disabled the function keys. I’m sure you can get around it yourself with the arrow keys and enter button.

Anyway, this was a nightmare because I didn’t want another second of it. Now I can peacefully go on with my lovely life. Too bad I don’t get a certificate for solving my own problems. I’ll just give myself a pat on the back.

Great at Starting and Terrible at Finishing

My websites just had a maintenance so I wasn’t able to do anything with them yesterday. I tried to remove the comments section of my Pages because I don’t really want anyone writing stuff there. The Pages made on my Official Site wasn’t made for comments. I’m using WordPress so all I had to do was go to each Page and remove the check on the box that allowed comments. This can be found from the discussion screen options. I also completed a small project playing a game called RIFT. I added the story to my Great Friends sub-domain. I just leveled from 1-50 and had a little talk about the features of the online game.

I’ve been a little busy trying to get on with life. Moving home and starting to pack everything up. I’ve still got three more songs to complete in my first Christmas Collection of traditional songs. I should be able to get that done before everything is out of the house. So apart from cleaning house I’ve also been cleaning my websites. Clarinet Community and Sheet Music Affiliate no longer exists. Well, they’re no longer being maintained. Making SherwinJTB my brand name is quite funny. I used to have an email address with the username sherwinb, but I forgot the password. I’m not even sure I thought about recovering the password.

So what’s the title all about? I’m great at starting and terrible at finishing. Excellent at finding new ideas, but shocking when it’s time to get the stuff done. I could be called an inventor that never invented anything. I’m trying to stay positive as always. It’s fun running my own website I have to admit. Let’s hope the fun never dies.

Publishing a Music Story Book

I’m working towards writing and publishing a yet to be seen music story book. This will be an exciting promotion for myself and a legacy I wish to continue in future generations. I’ve always been enthusiastic when it comes to the clarinet. This will be based on the great instrument that I hold dearly. This book will require skills in musical notation and story telling. Maybe some illustrations too such as cartoons. This is all just speculation as everything I have learned is coming together. Good luck to me and for the love of Australia.

I love seeing your videos Sherwin. I had an accident at the end of May last year where my teeth went right through my bottom lip and split it in half… its healed ok, but there is still scar tissue which as you can imagine, makes it hurt when I try to play, so i haven’t really played in almost a year… watching you makes me miss? it, but not sad, it makes me happy.

I was playing around with GIMP 2 software and thought I’d change my avatar image. The main attraction was adding my name SherwinJTB. All I can tell you is that there’s a bunch of layers in it. Still rather simple with an artistic canvass to end it. It’s going to take a while to change my image on other websites so I’m not going to bother. I might edit some new banners on YouTube when I get the time.

There was a slight compatibility issue when I first started using it. Since I was using Windows 7 the windows were not fixed into the proper resolution. I just changed the compatibility back to Windows XP SP2. If there’s a patch to solve this issue then I haven’t found it yet. I actually uploaded the image onto my main domain so I just embedded it here.

I don’t really use blogger or blogspot that much. I just noticed that some blogs have the option to comment with name/url. In which case mine didn’t. So I had to change the settings. Your Dashboard should have a settings for your own blog in the comments section. The question in mind is: Who can comment? The answer would be anyone or anonymous. This way users who wish to comment can leave their name and personal url behind. The option I had on was only limited to registered users.
