This doesn’t really have anything to do with music. I’m not a big fan of business, but I have to get around it somehow to market myself. Been playing World of Warcraft these past few months and I have time to mess with during maintenance. Much like how people make money through embedded videos there are many other ways to get the word out. Words mean a lot to people because it’s the most successful form of communication. What we see is what we get?

The game I like to play that doesn’t require much computer power or the internet is “Emperor of the Fading Suns”. It’s a strategy type of game. Don’t want to say too much because I’m not trying to sell anything. I just enjoy playing it. I saw a comment about SMF also. Some forum type software I talked about a while ago. It’s good to try new things. =)

It’s been around for a few months now and Google Trends seems to have caught up with twitter somewhat. Keep in mind that the topics set out is what the people are already writing anyway. Just seems more dynamic since you get those instant trends. Most of the celebrities talk about Twitter and I doubt they will mention Google trends, but you can be sure that most people online would tell you to search it on Google.

I live in Australia so the list does not really relate to myself, but it is interesting enough to know more about the USA. Like the current top search at the moment is Megan Fox aborts black baby. It is controversial and makes you want to read more about it. Well, that is my opinion. Most of the other stuff I have not heard of. I know of Megan Fox because she is beautiful.

It also feels like if you want to tackle the trendy topics of now a lot of people will see you blogging about it. Kind of like the advertisement I just saw on TV with someone calling our Prime Minster Kevin Rudd a gutless wonder. I think that was rude, but that is the media for you. I do not really like too much drama.

Not going to do anything fancy for this post. YouTube is celebrating for over 5 years since registering their domain. I only noticed because they advertise it on their own website. Just wanted to add my congratulations to them. I didn’t join in the first year because I never had a reason until wanting to upload a video. The first video I made was removed since things were still unclear about music copyright. Having background music that you don’t own in your videos can get you into trouble. Don’t really want to mess with it unless you want to ruin your reputation with some future publishers.

There’s a little trick I found out that WordPress can do for the root folder of this sub-domain http://greatfriends.sherwinjtb.com. By creating an empty page with the same folder as the Simple Machines Forum (SMF) destination I can directly have the forum clicked on the main page. WordPress is just a blog format that I used up so I didn’t have to design anything myself. They have plenty of templates available for you already.

My Web Host is a little messy I reckon. The SMF platform doesn’t magically work. When you first install it with Host Excellence in your life make sure to uninstall the SMF packages and then upgrade to the latest version one by one. Just something I found that if you try to upgrade the updates from the get go it won’t work properly.

I’ve been having a little trouble making an 8 minute long video today. I don’t even want to mention the software I’m using because it’s almost as bad as Windows Movie Maker. I finally recorded my next classical piece, but the frames aren’t working. I could probably make a better version tomorrow. There’s nothing wrong with the audio though. I wonder if there’s any good trial versions out there. One that doesn’t mess up and can work in the background while I watch movies and play games. I think the problem with the program I’m using shares the computer resources. Making the end result defective. On a lighter note the TV series of Merlin returns this coming Sunday night 6:30PM. Almost gave me a scare. Tomorrow I’ll be joining a guild raid on World of Warcraft. Anyway, if the video I’m currently making turns out bad I may have to search for better software.

Okay Google I think I need to start adding more power to my main home page. Some other site seems to be more popular with my own name SherwinJTB. The more annoying part is that site just embedded a YouTube video I made years ago and it no longer exists. So I’m being beaten by a dead page. Funny how these search engines work. Oh well, guess I have to work harder. More power to me anyway if someone wants to promote my own brand. This ranting is a little fun anyway. Not really professional, but good to say.

I’m not too worried about most things, but having a YouTube partner in your life can get pretty exhausting. I really should keep my close friends closer because making new friends may not be that fulfilling. It’s more like what can you do for me? I’ve slowed down because motives can easily be wiped away if you rush things. Anyway, teachers have been saying this for years. Do your best, keep trying and don’t give up on your dreams.

SherwinJTB on YouTube: Clarinet Shaves Beard and Moustache

I shaved my head a few weeks ago. However, I’m letting my beard and moustache grow for now. It didn’t really stop me from posting another video though. Just coming up with random jazz improvisations that I probably wouldn’t play again. I had another attempt to a classical piece I’m meant to work on. The clarinet reed still needs some warming up so it sounds like a lot of open air space. Well, that’s just an excuse for not practicing these past few weeks. With the cold weather so far I’m wondering if it was really a good idea to shave my head. My head feels lighter which I think is a good thing. Have you thought much about the Melbourne weather in your life?

I’ve been having some fun writing articles online lately. More fun than posting videos of myself playing the clarinet. Creating my own websites would not have been possible without Host Excellence. If you want Host Excellence in your life also then just click on the hyperlink. I have been with them for a few months already, but what got me really supportive of them is their service. All I wanted was a host that can keep my domains active. Possibly a few applications as a bonus also. I’m quite happy with my websites at this stage. Considering I knew very little about web development.

Now, I recently posted an article with the title YouTube Partner in Your Life. The first thing that comes to mind is am I looking for a date or relationship? This is my way of celebrating even though it’s a little late becoming a YouTube partner. This is not exactly a health issue so I’ve added this to my business interest. SherwinJTB on YouTube channel is a musician type, but I’m not focusing on that at the moment.

I’m not too happy about the previous WordPress theme so I changed it. Adding a few plug-ins might make my pages look more interesting too. I’ve browsed through a few other people’s blogs and found some interesting ideas that I may implement also. Akismet was giving me trouble earlier, but hopefully not anymore. I decided to put most of my efforts in my Life sub-domain. Most of my main links you will find are on my Home Page SherwinJTB’s Official Website. MuHeBu is purely for ranting and showing off. It is spread out to 3 other sub-domains Music, Health and Business.

You would have noticed that I don’t really put any advertisements here. Just like my Clarinet Community forum that is purely a forum for people to talk about the clarinet. There’s no members there right now so maybe you’ll be the first to write something. No catch. My other site Sheet Music Affiliate is pretty much an affiliate site so expect links to other companies I affiliated with. I’m not a big fan of that right now though. I could probably make a nice income by continuing to make YouTube videos, but I am also interested in blogging. I like playing the clarinet and typing stuff too.

Talk about being busy… I actually wanted to make a post like four hours ago, but was doing other things. So here it is! I managed to get some free time to write a little about social networking. It is very time consuming and much like myself probably don’t have time to read long messages. Well, unless you really have nothing better to do or in love with reading. Making friends online is not something you would want to take too personally or seriously. There is a difference to meeting someone online and meeting someone online you already know in the real world. Just don’t forget who they are.

People lose interest or gain interest in whatever you do. Popularity is also something that needs to be maintained. I think there’s one rule that sticks to mind. Doing something is better than nothing! It may be crap whatever you’re doing, but at least you are trying. Everyone starts from scratch and learns from experience so don’t give up. There’s a lot of competition involved when marketing on the internet such as FaceBook vs Google. Google also owns YouTube and most people would advise that most businesses work better with videos. Still images work also, but is not as entertaining.

There’s so many websites available that it would be very difficult to maintain yourself. So work out a plan to count the benefits. The whole purpose of social networking is exposure. There’s no point joining all those websites if you don’t get any credit like a link back to your site. You want to become known and perhaps even popular while you’re at it. I’m still new to all that html and java stuff with editing a homepage. Don’t let that stop you from learning though. Start with the basics and eventually you’ll become better at it.
